Thomas William Underhill


1.  Thomas William UNDERHILL, was born 17 Oct 1896 in Sedgley (Staffs), census 1901 at Wootton Court, Wootton (Kent). He attended Rugby School from 1910 to 1913, and went afterwards to Birmingham University to study engineering. At the beginning of the war, at age of 17 he enlisted in the Royal Sussex Regiment and was promoted to Lance Corporal. He was later Commissioned into The Buffs as Second Lieutenant. He went to France in October 1915 with 8th(service) Btn, was wounded in Oct 1915 and returned to England. He returned to France in Feb 1916. He was killed in action 19 Aug 1916 Aged 19, and was buried in Bray Military Cemetery - I.B.17

     "During the Battle of the Somme his Battalion had taken some German trenches near Delville Wood and were holding them. He was on lookout duty; his Captain had just given some orders, and had only gone about ten yards down the trench when he heard a shell burst. The Captain ran back and found him lying dead, evidently killed by concussion,”

         104.      ii     Isaac WHITEHOUSE. He married Eleanor [maiden name unknown – marriage not found].

                      v     Joseph MAULLIN, born 1730, died 30 Dec 1815 Aged 85, buried at Coseley Old Meeting House, Coseley (Staffs). He married Mary SILVESTER.

                      vi    Job MAULLIN, born 1736, died 27 Mar 1812 Aged 76. He married Elizabeth SHAW, 28 Apr 1761 at All Saints, Sedgley (Staffs).

                      vii   Phoebe MAULLIN, born 1743, died 21 Jan 1825 in Great Barr (Staffs) - Aged 82, buried 1825 at Great Barr (Staffs). She married Joseph OSBORNE, 3 Jun 1769, born 1747, died 20 Dec 1804 to Aged 57, buried at Great Barr (Staffs).

213.  Mary STURMEE, born 1695, died 27 Aug 1769 Aged 74, buried at Coseley Old Meeting House, Coseley (Staffs).
