The memorial is a brass plaque inside the church of St Giles at Kingston.
It bears the following inscription:
“To the Glory of God and in Memory of those Kingston Men who Fell, Fighting in the Cause of Truth, Righteousness and Liberty in the Great War of 1914 – 1918”
“They loved not their life even unto death”
“This tablet has been placed by their friends and fellow parishioners.”
There is also a World War II casualty buried in the churchyard: Albert Ernest DEVESON. His final resting place is marked with a CWGC headstone.
He is a second cousin, once removed, to Percy William DEVESON who is recorded on the memorial at Eastry
I am indebted to Alfred GRACEY of Kingston for his assistance.
