Grenadier Guards., Whilst serving in France he was wounded in his right leg in Aug 1916 and was returned to UK for treatment. He was returned to service in France in Apr 1917 but developed several health problems and eventually tuberculosis of the right lung. Discharged 1 Jul 1920 as no longer fit for military service, died 23 Oct 1920 in Northwich (Cheshire) from tuberculosis - Aged 23, buried 26 Oct 1920 at St John the Baptist, Barham (Kent).
